Chapter 1: The Journey Begins

As a student of Bachelor of Arts in History, I am hoping to have my internship in Local Government Units here in General Santos, especially in City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) and City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office (CEMCDO), since I believe it will provide me the chance to experience how the local government works. The knowledge about how projects for the environment, culture, and community development are planned and executed, and how these contribute to the growth of the city and the lives of its people. What I hope to gain from this experience is not only practical knowledge but also the discipline and values that come with public service. I want to learn how to work with different people, improve my research and communication skills, and explore myself on how I am able to use what I have learned. I expect this internship to help me grow both personally and professionally. It will give me confidence, teach me responsibility, and prepare me for future opportunities, whether in government, education, or community work. I hope this experience will guide me in finding my place and love for the career I want to pursue. 

I really love learning because it feeds my interest and helps me understand things in a deeper way. Through this internship, I want to discover more about myself, what I’m good at, what I need to improve on, and the new skills I can develop along the way. I know it won’t always be easy, but that’s part of the experience. At the same time, I look forward to the opportunities it may open for me and the chance to prove and market myself. For me, this internship is more than just a requirement, it's an opportunity for growth, learning, and preparation.

Concrete Experience   This week, I was able to list my priorities, which will allow me to use my time wisely and complete all my requirements. Every morning and afternoon we have a Zumba session at the office to help us stay active and energized. I also took the initiative to politely ask my co-interns to teach me how to operate the Xerox machine so I could assist with office tasks. Additionally, we secured our IDs this week.  I was assigned to the receiving section and also tasked with forwarding letters and documents to different offices. I listened carefully to the instructions and asked for clarification when necessary to ensure everything was clear.  Sir Droy instructed us regarding our requirements so that we will be able to comply by the end of the required internship hours. Chapter 5: When Things Get Really Interesting

Concrete Experience  This week was challenging for me, and I was quite nervous. On the day of deployment, I arrived early to avoid heavy traffic and waited for my co-interns so we could go to the office as a group following our scheduled orientation. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Ma'am Aarnn, who oriented us on the office rules, the events we'd be assisting with, and also asked about our class schedules. After the orientation, we socialized with our fellow interns from the STI College Tourism Management program and helped them to prepare the souvenirs to be given for the delegates arriving the following day. Just as we were about to leave, Sir Droy arrived. We had a brief conversation where he invited us to the event the next day at the City Mayor's Office, Kastifun Hall.
