Chapter 2: Hitting the First Challenge
Concrete Experience
I attended a practicum class and a seminar about R.A. 11313, also known as the Bawal Bastos Law, at the College of Education. I arrived early with my friends at the parking lot. We waited for Ma’am Hannee to arrive since we didn’t know which classroom we would be using. When she arrived, we followed her, and the classroom was already well-prepared for us. The chairs were organized. Ma’am Hannee started the class by checking attendance. She discussed the do’s and don’ts we should remember as we prepare for our on-the-job training (OJT) and shared tips that could really help us. She discussed the different learning styles and MBTI personality and also taught us how to write a resume and cover letter and announced that we are having an interview next week September 10, 2025, Wednesday.
After Ma’am Hannee’s discussion, Ma’am Ruhama arrived and conducted a seminar on R.A. 11313, the Bawal Bastos Law. She started the session with a fun icebreaker to make everyone feel comfortable and engaged. Throughout the discussion, Ma’am Ruhama explained our rights and protection and discussed several of the worst situations in public or in a workplace. We are hoping it won't happen to anyone, and she taught us actions we are going to take if it happens to us. After the seminar, Ma’am Hanee returned our journal from last week and gave us an activity about learning styles and to submit together with our week two journal.
Reflective Observation
During Ma’am Hannee’s discussion, I learned many helpful things about preparing for our OJT, like the do’s and don’ts, interviews, and writing a proper resume and cover letter. When she mentioned that we would have an interview next week, I honestly felt nervous, but at the same time, I was thankful because we had time to prepare. She mentioned the learning styles and MBTI test. I remembered the time I took it out of curiosity to see if it would be accurate. The result showed that I was an ISFJ, and when I read the description, I was amazed at how accurate it was for me. But now, I’m not sure if I’m still the same because I’ve noticed some changes in my personality. I realized I've got a lot of work to be done this week.
The seminar was about R.A. 11313, the Bawal Bastos Law, which was discussed by Ma’am Ruhama. I observed how she started with a fun icebreaker, which made us all feel comfortable and more active. As the discussion went deeper, I realized how important it was to know our rights and how to protect ourselves in uncomfortable situations, especially in public or at work. Some of the examples she shared were eye-opening, but they helped me understand how serious these issues were. I felt grateful to both Ma’am Hannee and Ma’am Ruhama for guiding us. Their actions and effort helped me gain information and advice as we prepared for our OJT.
Abstract Conceptualization
The Learning Style Inventory (LSI) to help us understand our own ways of learning. This activity showed which learning style suits us best, whether we learn better by seeing, hearing, reading, writing, or doing. This idea means that we can identify strategies that fit our strengths and improve where we need to. We also talked about the MBTI test or Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, which helps us understand our personality types. It shows how we make decisions, and interact with others.
Future Application
I will try my best to be more organized, confident, and professional in my work. These lessons will help me do better and grow both personally and professionally. What I’ve learned, I will make sure to maintain and apply consistently.
